This is a comprehensive list of all of the Johnny's Concerts and events I've been to. Those for which I've written reports have a link to the report underneath. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to write a report for every concert I've been to, but if you have a specific question about any of the shows or events here (for example, for clarification about something you read on Twitter), please don't hesitate to comment, and I'll be happy to help!

I have also written a comprehensive venue guide here. If you have questions about any of the venues here (for example, if you can buy food inside the venue), please check that post first, but if your question isn't covered, again, please feel free to ask me here or on that post in the comments!

I'm happy to help fans going to concerts or venues for the first time, so I hope this can be of use, and please let me know if you have any questions beyond what I've written here!

Well, I finally did the work I was supposed to do, but I didn't do anything useful in fandom T__T; I spent most of today freaking out that my Puzzle and Dragon strategy up until now isn't good enough from here on out haha |D;;; What a loser, I know.

But I decided I'd just write up a bullet-point list of stuff that was cute at countdown, because I honestly don't really want to write a report of a Matchy concert! Sorry for the informal format, but I just honestly don't have that much to say.

As always, this contains a lot of my opinions and my interpretations of things. If that will offend you, please don't click the cut. In particular, a negative view of Sexy Zone as three members, and a negative view of Matchy are apparent, so please don't read if you don't want to see that.

Countdown 2014-2015 )

Sorry it's not much, but that's all I have to say about Countdown… And now to get to bed, it got late, sheesh. x___x;

So, due to a variety of obligations and plain forgetfulness, I totally failed to write a plot summary for the Kamen Teacher movie when it was still in theatres. Oops. >__>;; So now, very belated, in case anyone is still interested, here it is! I'm really sorry if I forget some things or if this isn't 100% accurate; I'm doing it based off my notes since the movie was a long time ago.

Gekijouban Kamen Teacher )

The movie was pretty crazy, but I enjoyed it. I don't really get what they were trying to say about hitting students being okay (because it's definitely not) but the whole message was pretty muddled, anyway. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if it focused more on the students and less on Araki-- I feel like it didn't do as well as the series in that regard. But all in all, it was still a lot of fun and I still love Kamen Teacher!

WHEW!! Totally done with reports and summaries and write-ups for the next few days! And then Monday I'll have two new things to report on. DAMMIT! XD

Back from Hiroshima! …briefly, for two days! XD Then I'm off to Yokohama for four days, again with [livejournal.com profile] yomimashou and [livejournal.com profile] 9kinds to see Sexy Zone and do some sightseeing~ [livejournal.com profile] yomimashou and I both hit for tickets for the first say (of course =___=) so that's the day we're taking [livejournal.com profile] 9kinds to her first Johnny's concert (we spent the time in Hiroshima trying to convert her into a Sexy Girl XD), though sadly from the back row of the lower stands, then on Monday, [livejournal.com profile] yomimashou and I bought tickets to see them again, this time from the second row of the lower stands. The rest of the time, we're going to sight see and eat delicious Chinese food in Yokohama Chinatown~

And then the next week, [livejournal.com profile] yomimashou and I are heading into Tokyo this time to see JUMP in Tokyo Dome! Also, hopefully, to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] kaleidoruby~ It's going to be the first time in Tokyo in a while, so I have to stock up on makeup and Johnny's Shop photos XD;;;

And then I get a one-weekend break before heading into Tokyo again to see ABC-Za on the 24th at 12:30 (I hit for second row balcony, woo) and then REIAAAAA's Crea show on the 25th. [livejournal.com profile] yomimashou hit for ABC-Za at the same time as we're seeing Reia, of course lol. But that's okay, because for once I hit for (arguably) better seats! So we'll hopefully make back some money on her set, yay.

May is always crazy concert season, and I'm totally stoked! But right now I'm exhausted, and I have a full day of work tomorrow, so it's time for bed.

Okay, finally, here I am, getting to my Johnny's 2020 World report! Sorry for the delay, but plays are the worst to write reports about, because they have a plot |D;;; Not that Johnny's World has that much of a plot anyway, but it does have some |D;;; Even if it's a bit like The Last Unicorn meets David Bowie on Broadway. At any rate, this is a report for the January show, but I do mention a few details from the December show when things were different. ^^ This is definitely far from totally detailed (the plot makes approximately zero sense and there are segments that used a lot of specific/specialized terminology that I didn't understand) but I tried to at least give a good overview of the plot and some details about the guys, too. ^^ So... please enjoy!

My thoughts on the show )

In other news, I think I'm coming down with something. T___T;; So I'm going to try to get to bed early! I'm sorry if this makes me less productive this weekend than I was planning but... I really don't want to be sick next weekend!

I've found that not that many people translate the little sections at the back of the magazine, but a lot of the time, those are where the gems are, especially in terms of who's friends with who or who I ship with who. XD;; Since I like to be able to prove that I'm not crazy when I say that I have reasons for shipping people, and because I like sharing with the world, I have two more tiny little translations for you today~

Unrelatedly, today is seijin on hi, or Coming of Age Day!! This means I got off work and had a three day weekend, but also... Happy Coming of Age Ceremony to Kento, Yamada, Chinen, Yuto, Yuma, Hasshi, and of course, my beloved bb Yugo~

COUNTDOWN! I've been meaning to get this done, so I'm sorry it's taken forever for me to get to this, and the truth is that I STILL haven't watched the TV broadcast >__>;; But I figured I'd write up a little thing on the cute/amusing stuff that happened that didn't make it onto the broadcast (or at least I'm pretty sure it didn't, since the broadcast did play, albeit pixelated, on the screen at the dome)

A few things to know before reading this!
1) It's not a real report. I don't remember the setlist. This is just interesting things that I remembered well enough to want to report about them on LJ
2) I'm anti-Ijima... team Julie all the way!
3) I have Some Feelings about KisuMai :D
4) There was a bit of NEWS drama, and I'm not a huge fan of Yamapi, so I'll probably report about it in that light.

I don't think there's anything necessarily offensive under the cut, but like most human beings, I have opinions, so I'm just warning you here. XD;

And now! On to the report.

Countdown! )

Today was my first day back at work, so even though I just sat at my desk all day, I feel tired. |D; And so, I'll leave you with this adorable paparazzi photo of Reia and Shintaro playing games on the train in 2012~ It's so cute that they're such good friends even so long after Snow Prince Gasshoudan worked together. Also, what Shintaro says about Reia here (also from 2012) is so cute, It's a feeling that we're always together. At rehearsals or shows, we're always playing the same video game, and we often go out to get ramen together, you know~ So cuuuuute. I find it adorable that they're still bffs even though Shintaro has gotten waaaaay bigger than Reia |D;;;

LET'S TALK ABOUT JOHNNY'S 2020 WORLD!!! So this is your warning; spoilers beneath.

First off, I'm going to try to write a real report after I see the show from slightly farther away from the stage and therefore am 1) much more coherent and 2) much more able to actually see anything. So I'm sorry for the wait, but right now, I'm just going to explode with glee over what happened at the show!

So... yes. We were in the A row, which means we were about 2 feet from the orchestra pit wall. Johnny's uses the orchestra pit area as an extension of the stage, which means that if someone was standing at the end of the stage, they were like... practically within arm's reach to me. And juniors often came in front of the orchestra pit and danced, meaning they were practically dancing on top of my feet. It was actually surreal. Everyone kept doing double takes when they saw us, too XD; Pretty sure Watanabe Shota could't tear his eyes away from the spectacle of three foreign girls in the front row for a whole number, and Fuma gave us a really cute smile. A lot of the other juniors also sort of "woah!" reaction upon seeing us, and for GOD ONLY KNOWS WHY that guy I hate Okamoto Kauan happened to stand right in front of me and wink at me AGAIN.

The show itself was definitely better and more coherent than last year. The first act had a lot of the same, starting with Yabu the Producer. This time, Shori took Yamada's part, and I think it was much better suited to him. Yamada really just came off angry and butthurt the whole time that the Producer had been critical of his performance, while Shori seemed much more at odds in terms of the philosophy of putting on shows. There were a lot of musical numbers before the Producer took Shori through the months again, and January (taiko), February (ABC-Z doing a dance with masks), March (sakura) were mostly the same, though Sexy Zone sang a new song for March, and it seems like it might be part of a new release? But since there was no Mori Mitsuko tribute this year, there were a lot of differences from last year and it got weirdly heavy handed. After Yabu sang My Heart Will Go On and ABC-Z/Snow Man/Inoue Mizuki died on the Titanic, and then Shori somehow didn't die on the Hindenburg, June was about WWII and featured a bunch of Juniors being Nazis (including GenGen... it was like, so cute, he was trying so hard to seem like a bad guy). They sort of flipped through July and August quickly talking about things that happened in WWII, and then September was about the Olympics (why?? no clue) and they skipped over October too. Then November was the Shakespeare part that was in act two last year, and then this year, instead of 47 ronin for December, it was Macbeth. They kept talking about Macbeth like it was history, and like Macbeth was this awesome hero, so it was sort of like ...okay. XD; Kento played Macbeth, while Fuma and a bunch of Juniors were Macduff/the army against him. Shori spent the whole time freaking out and accidentally (?) stabbed Macbeth and then was all like NOO DON'T DIE on Kento for about five seconds, which was cute |D;;; But again, Yabu died in the waterfall and then Shori got all up on him like NOOOO I LOVE YOU and angels Jinchan and Shori took him to heaven. |D;;

The second act was also different, and it was definitely better, but I think they weakened it by making ABC-Z not antagonistic from the beginning. They started off with a bit of a funny adlib section (where Kawai was pretending to be Funasshi? And Kento did a lolarious impersonation of Yabu) and ABC-Z only turned more antagonistic later, which was confusing. I feel like it felt a little less linear than last year, but they definitely helped the plot by adding the Producer character back in, and him going back to earth with them at the end. The way they introduced Tricember was better too, saying that Fuma/Kento/Shori went to space and THEN they find the Tricember bus stop made much more sense than saying they somehow ended up in Tricember, oh, and by the way, that's also outer space. It all tied in, since in the first act, Shori had said he wanted to search for Tricember with the Producer from pretty much the beginning (in a very Shori ~let's think about life and the universe~ way). So yeah... it was definitely better! Not great, but better.

BUT. The best thing happened at the end of the show, during the curtain call. For the most part, Reia had been on the opposite side of the stage, and I was bemoaning how unfair life was when finally, he was on our side at the end! When he was bowing, I was watching him adoringly and smiling, and then suddenly, our eyes met and he smiled back at me! Which caused me to smile more, which caused him to smile more too, and I was really happy! He had been seeming sort of tired, and then I made him smile! And then, when they were waving at everyone before leaving (because of course it's still Johnny's even if it's a stageplay), he caught my eye again and waved directly at me, and I waved at him, and he smiled again before leaving the stage and AHHHH this is the culminating moment of my Johnny's fan career, better than been seen by Takaki (who was very alarmed) or Chinen or Keito or Sakuma Daisuke, because I actually made him smile ahhhhhhh my life is complete now.

Er... oops, this turned sort of summary-y so I'm going to stick a report tag on it, but I'm still going to try to write a real report when I see it again in January XD; The other thing that I feel like came out of this show is that my love for Kishi totally grew. XD He's so adorably... faily. I love how terrified he looks approximately 100% of the time, and how intensely he concentrates when he's dancing, and how he trips on things and makes mistakes a lot. It's endearing. ♥ Also, Sakuma Daisuke is the best freaking dancer ever. He makes it look so easy that no one even appreciated it, but I clapped for him when he did like 10 fouettes and landed them perfectly without batting an eyelash.

And now, two more days until Hawaii. AHHHHHHH.

Finally, here it is! A birthday present for you all on my birthday! This is my summary of the Bad Boys J movie! I want to disclaim completely that there are probably some details that are a little off. As I've mentioned before, because the characters almost all speak in some degree of Hiroshima dialect, it makes it pretty hard for me to follow. Especially Shigeoka Daiki, who chose to mumble through the entirety of this movie (not really sure why he chose to do this, as I can usually understand him fine on TV, Kansai dialect and all), made it hard for me, especially since he was a pretty pivotal character. But! I'm generally confident that this is mostly right. So... please enjoy!

Warning! This is a complete summary of the movie, so there are spoilers!! Don't read if you don't want to be spoiled before the DVD comes out (which will probably be sometime in May of 2014, if I had to guess).

Gekijouban Bad Boys J! )

All in all, I actually enjoyed the movie much more than the series. I felt that where the series lacked in any dynamic character elements or character development, the movie actually accomplished that in about 1/6 the time. For the first time, I felt like I actually understood the characters' thoughts and motivations, and was able to see them respond to plot points, grow, and change. So while it wasn't as good as the Bakaleya movie, it was way better than the series, in my opinion, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Okay, I'm FINALLY getting around to writing up my report for ABC-Za, which I saw last Saturday. Oops. >__>;; The show was really interesting, though not as fun in my opinion as Dream Boys (though that might have something to do with the fact that Reia wasn't in it >__>;;), and I learned a lot about... what Johnny's wants me to believe happened back in the 60s. XD;

The main cast was ABC-Z, but I'm going to use ABC-Z's names through the report, rather than their characters, who were the 4 members of the Johnnys (the first Johnny's group), with the exception of Tottsu, who played a variety of other characters, because they were definitely playing the characters through the lens of their own personalities. XD; As always, the report itself may have a few errors because I'm only human and Japanese isn't my first language, but I hope you can enjoy it anyway!

ABC-Za 2013: Johnny's Densetsu, 2013.10.12 )

And... that's the last Johnny's thing that I have tickets to right now. >__< I have to figure out the dates and ballot for Johnny's World, and I'm praying for a Junior concert, but that's all that there is... dammit. Come on Johnny's, announce SOME sort of concert. Stage plays are all fine and well, but I really want to see a concert again.

Also, if you're interested in any of my other concert reports, check out my Johnny's concert, stageplay, and event history!
faded_lace: (Marius: onoes)
FINALLY got my copies of Byebye Dubai! The PV... wasn't as bad as I was expecting, so that's a plus? XD; The Juniors were a lot less prominent and Marius and Sou weren't quite as shafted, so despite how much I'd love to watch Reia's beautiful self all the time, I'm happy that Sexy Zone seems to be doing better on that front. I need to watch the Making about a million times, though. >___>; At least once for the members and once for the juniors. The dance video was also pretty amusing. |D; Poor Marius struggles even now, and even with such a simple dance... Somehow, Marius and Sou are looking so grown up these days. ;~~~~; Sou has really changed so much and looks so handsome now! I'm happy for him. And... who even knows with Marius. @___@;; I hope he doesn't become too much of a giant!

In other news of things I got in the mail, I got a postcard from [livejournal.com profile] nekobot01! Yay! ♥ Thanks so much, I was really happy to get it~

I also got the balloting info for Johnny's World 2020, and let me tell you how not thrilled I am. I got an email today from the JUMP fanclub telling me that Yabu had joined the cast? Just Yabu. Who even knows what it's going to be like, but since they're forcing those poor children to perform on New Year's Day all the way through January, there's not really space for a Sexy Zone New Year's Concert. I'm really bummed... the New Year's Concert was a really big highlight of my winter last year, so to realize it must not be happening is really upsetting. Ugh, no Summary, no New Year's... I'll never get a chance to see Sexy Zone in concert this year. [/whine]

Well, for better or for worse, off to Tokyo to hunt for Horikoshi undoukai paparazzi pics and see ABC-Z and Snow Man!
faded_lace: (Kento&Yugo: sweet)
First of all, my archive and JE archive are up to date!

Next, [livejournal.com profile] yomimashou and I did our usual count after going to the Johnny's shop not once but twice last weekend. |D;; There were no new photos for our main groups, but we went to get some photos of our secondary groups on the first day, and then on the second day we went back for photos of Snowman after falling in love at Dream Boys. And so... here are the odd results XD

grand tallies! )

And... that's probably all the excitement I'm going to get until ABC-za! Right now I'm obsessing over Reia and the end of Kamen Teacher... as to be expected. XD; I'm going to do my best to get my Dream Boys report done on Thursday, but if not, it will probably be Saturday. ^^; Ganbarimasu!

So about this Johnny's World 2020.

JUST WHEN I THOUGHT I WAS SAFE FROM ANOTHER JOHNNY'S WORLD, WHY DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN?!

Just to clarify before I continue: I think there was some confusion on the internet, but last year, there were two "Johnny's World" events that occurred. The first was Johnny's World, which was a stageplay that occurred at the Imperial Theatre in Ginza. It ran from November 10th to January 27th, and the main cast was all members of Hey! Say! JUMP, all members of ABC-Z, and Kikuchi Fuma, Nakajima Kento, and Sato Shori from Sexy Zone. Snowman, Sexy Boyz, and Travis Japan also appeared in terms of Juniors. Marius and Sou, Kis-My-Ft2, Nakayama Yuma, Tackey, etc did not appear in the show, but instead were featured at the end in a video. This play did not get a DVD, so the only footage of it available on the internet as press footage from ZIP and other news programs. Then, for only two days, in Tokyo Dome, there was a concert called Johnny's World no Kanshasai (report here) which happened on March 16th and 17th. This was a concert rather than a play and contained almost no similar elements to the earlier event in Ginza. They did 3 songs from the play Johnny's World, and some of the same cast appeared. However, Marius, Sou, and the Bakaleya Juniors, among others, were present for the Johnny's World no Kanshasai Tokyo Dome concert. Basically, tl;dr: Johnny's World (which did not get a DVD) and Johnny's World no Kanshasai (which did get a DVD) are not the same thing, have very few similarities, and happened at completely different times with different cast members and in different venues. I went to both, and had friends who went to both, so I'm really not making it up. XD;

But yeah. Johnny's World no Kanshasai? Excellent! I loved every moment of it. It was one of the best, most fun concerts I've ever been to! But Johnny's World? It was really... bad. Despite being a play, there was barely any storyline, it was impossible to follow, Yamada and Yabu were the only named parts (despite there being 15 other debuted Johnny's in the show), and it was just weird and boring and not worth the ¥12,000 I paid for it. It was a waste of the boys' time in my opinion, and I don't want to have to see it again. The only reason I'd go is to support the boys, of course, but I'd much rather see something that was a better use of their time and talents.

And of course, there's the matter of 2020, but everyone already knows how I feel about that.

In essence, when I got the Sexy Zone fanclub email about "Johnny's World 2020" I nearly pitched my phone across the room. Fuck this shit, Johnny's.
faded_lace: (Chinen: musing)
I'm not really sure why, tbh, but I decided to compile a list of all the concerts and events that I've been to for various Johnny's groups so far, as well as links to the reports I've written. I guess this really isn't all that useful to anyone, but... idk, I like organizing my life. XD;; So yeah. Here is a complete list of all the Johnny's concerts, stage shows, and other events I've been to!
