FYI... Hazel, Hakkai, Tokitoh, Edward, Mokuba, Fye, Sanzo, and I really feel qualified to do Ukoku, though I haven't actually played him before.

1. Hazel also kills a lot; he kills youkai. He would kill to further his cause, then, obviously, and it's obvious that he doesn't really value "life" as something in and of itself, due to his lack of real understanding of the nature of life (failure to raise the potted plant). He would most likely kill to protect someone he felt needed protecting, but it depended who against. Hazel has a habit of faltering at bad moments. As for what he would die for... I'm not sure, to be honest. Hazel is entirely self-centred. I think he would have died for Filbert, if he could have; he would have done anything to prove his worth to Filbert. If someone manipulated him enough, he'd die for them to prove how loyal and worthy he was. I get the feeling that he's going to end up sacrificing his own life for the cause in manga canon, like in the anime, because Sanzo really does change him, in the end. [cut for spoilers]
2. ... I'd say kill a human, I think. He hates the idea of killing humans, because he luffs humans and h8s youkai, but if you manipulated him enough, he'd kill a human, too. I'd say hurt someone he cares about, but, again, if someone really fucked with his head, I think he'd do that, too. In the end, basically, there are no holds barred when Hazel is trying to prove his worth to somebody. He'll do anything for a person who says they love him.
3. Hazel literally has nightmares about his childhood, both Filbert's death and the incident in Sunspot with Ukoku. Figuratively, Hazel's largest dream is to have someone who loves him and cares for him and thinks he's worthy. He needs more than anything to hear someone say they need him, that he has some worth to them, that he is worthy of their love. If you ask him what his dream is, Hazel will say "world peace" or something of the sort, but he'd mean it in a "racial purity" sort of way. He'd like to get rid of all youkai when you first meet him in Even a Worm 1.
4. Not being needed ; being rejected ; being thrown away, like his parents threw him away. Hazel wants more than anything to be needed. He is also afraid of losing those he loves / not being able to protect those he loves / not being able to resurrect those he loves.
5. I'd say his pendant but lol Gato keeled it in volume 8. That was probably his most prized possession. Hazel doesn't really have an object otherwise that he really needs... the pendant was pretty much it.
6. I don't believe that we see Hazel's fondest memory on-screen. A peaceful childhood moment with Filbert. "Fondest" isn't the word, but he always looks back with awe on Ukoku's unbelievable powers.
7. Filbert's death ; being almost used in the human town
