Pick one of my RP characters and I'll answer the following questions about him or her.
1. What would your character kill for? What would they die for?
2. What would they refuse to do under any circumstances? Why?
3. What do they dream about? [Either literal or figurative, specify please.]
4. What’s their biggest fear?
5. What single object would they be most hard pressed to part with? Why?
6. What is their fondest memory?
7. What is their worst memory?
8. What or who was were their most significant influence? Expound.
9. What do they believe makes a successful life?
10. What makes them laugh?
11. What are their religious views?
12. What is their greatest strength?
13. Do they have a fatal flaw? If so, what is it?
14. Who is the most important person in their life?
15. If they died, who would miss them most? How would they die?
FYI... Hazel, Hakkai, Tokitoh, Edward, Mokuba, Fye, Sanzo, and I really feel qualified to do Ukoku, though I haven't actually played him before.

Date: 2009-02-07 06:00 am (UTC)because he's stupid and would forget that Seiten Taisei is immortal, but it really depends on the timing and the situation. He consciously probably would choose not to let Goku take the guilt for his death, so... maybe nothing. The side he fights on is his ownNOT *snorts*2) He would refuse to hurt someone he cared about, under any circumstances. He would give up his pride (as witnessed in volume 9), but he would never, ever hurt someone he loved, because... well, he loved them.
3) [What does he dream about? XD;] His figurative dream is to not be afraid for the life of the ones he loves. I think, really, he wants to fix things so that humans and youkai aren't at one another's throats, and I know he'd love to put a bullet in Ukoku's brains, but really, what everything boils down to is the safety of loved ones.
4) Losing the one he loves, hands down. He already lost Koumyou, and since then, he's been terrified of the death of loved ones, as made obvious after Ukoku shoots Goku in volume 7. He is terrified of Goku dying and pretty much goes batshit out of fear. Again in volume 9 when he's against Ukoku... he realizes that what he's feeling is fear when he realizes Goku is disappearing in the illusion.
5) I'm going to say the Maten Sutra, because it was his responsibility left to him by Koumyou, and he would be pissed as hell if the baddies actually did manage to lift it off of him. Also, considering it's the deus ex machina answer to everything, he'd be awfully defenseless without it, and I think he would hate that feeling, having to be protected.
6) Orange paper airplanes across a blue sky ; clutching Goku's body to him after replacing the diadem the first time he saw the Seiten Taisei ; having a picnic with Hakkai, Gojyo, and Goku at the end of Be There
7) Seeing Koumyou killed before his eyes ; seeing Goku killed before his eyes. Worthy of note is his first memory of killing, when some random dude tried to rape him in the mountains and his memory of Jikaku and learning to smoke, and of Shuuei but I think those are neither good nor bad, just... had a impact on his life.

Date: 2009-02-07 06:01 am (UTC)9) Doing what you want and not listening to what other people tell you. Muichimotsu. He can't do it himself, and I'm not even sure deep down that he believes it, but he wants to believe that a person will be happiest with no attachment, living life simply as it is.
10) Hard to say. When Hakkai and Goku and Gojyo are doing something particularly cute, he might chuckle to himself but then be embarrassed and hide it with anger. He doesn't like to show "weakness" by laughing, and, even if he's amused on the inside, he won't show it.
11) Though he is technically a high ranking Buddhist priest, he doesn't put much faith in the gods or bodhisattvas or anything. He clings to the ideal of Muichimotsu (now that's ironic) and other Buddhist principles, but he doesn't think highly of religion in general. He'd say, "If you want something done, don't pray to the gods, do it yourself" or something like that.
12) ... It's really hard to say. Sanzo is a really conflicted character, so I guess I'll say his love and attachment (lol @ Muichimotsu again), because in the end, he does a lot of what he does because of love. It's what gives him the strength to do a lot of things. However, I wouldn't, per se, describe Sanzo as a really strong character... just because he is so conflicted. He has a lot of trouble communicating and doesn't really know what to believe in... so those he loves, I'd say, are the anchors.
13) Hm... there are a lot of things one could say... His tenacity, in volume 9, almost gets him killed... I'll have to think on this one for Sanzo... sorry... he's probably the one I know the worst on here, I've only played him once XD;;;
14) Goku Goku Goku Goku Goku Goku! Goku is sort of like himself in his eyes, to his Koumyou, if that makes sense. He's raised Goku since childhood ("round and fat like a dumpling," anyone?) and Goku is the closest person to his heart. When Goku is almost killed, he goes batshit insane. He is the only one who can tame Seiten Taisei. It's just... GOKU.
15) Goku. Just as Goku is everything to Sanzo, Sanzo is everything to Goku. Goku risks everything to save Sanzo in the original volume 6, and he makes it obvious Sanzo is very important to him. As to how Sanzo dies... Ukoku keeled him XD;;;;;
This is really poorly written, I apologize. I'm tired. But have Myu!Hakkai rapeface to make up for it XD;
Re: [2/2]
Date: 2009-02-07 06:16 am (UTC)Sanzo is so sweet. XD Don't tell him I said that. But it's true, he's so full of love, and yet he's so afraid to admit it. Your answer to 6 made me go awww~
And your Myu!Hakkai icon is indeed made of win.
Re: [2/2]
Date: 2009-02-07 06:34 am (UTC)Yeah, he really is. He's a softie deep down, and no matter how much he likes to tell himself he's full of muichimotsu because he doesn't want to get hurt again, you know he's so, so attached. And yeah... his fondest memories are cute. XD;;;
YAY. He's so creepy. XD;;;

Date: 2009-02-07 06:31 am (UTC)2. ... I'd say kill a human, I think. He hates the idea of killing humans, because he luffs humans and h8s youkai, but if you manipulated him enough, he'd kill a human, too. I'd say hurt someone he cares about, but, again, if someone really fucked with his head, I think he'd do that, too. In the end, basically, there are no holds barred when Hazel is trying to prove his worth to somebody. He'll do anything for a person who says they love him.
3. Hazel literally has nightmares about his childhood, both Filbert's death and the incident in Sunspot with Ukoku. Figuratively, Hazel's largest dream is to have someone who loves him and cares for him and thinks he's worthy. He needs more than anything to hear someone say they need him, that he has some worth to them, that he is worthy of their love. If you ask him what his dream is, Hazel will say "world peace" or something of the sort, but he'd mean it in a "racial purity" sort of way. He'd like to get rid of all youkai when you first meet him in Even a Worm 1.
4. Not being needed ; being rejected ; being thrown away, like his parents threw him away. Hazel wants more than anything to be needed. He is also afraid of losing those he loves / not being able to protect those he loves / not being able to resurrect those he loves.
5. I'd say his pendant but lol Gato keeled it in volume 8. That was probably his most prized possession. Hazel doesn't really have an object otherwise that he really needs... the pendant was pretty much it.
6. I don't believe that we see Hazel's fondest memory on-screen. A peaceful childhood moment with Filbert. "Fondest" isn't the word, but he always looks back with awe on Ukoku's unbelievable powers.
7. Filbert's death ; being almost used in the human town
[2/2]
Date: 2009-02-07 06:31 am (UTC)9. Following his "greater cause" would be his original idea, i'm sure, killing out all the youkai and such. But really, being needed is the main thing he looks for in life; for him to feel like his life was complete or successful unless there was someone there saying that his life was successful, telling him he was worthy, relying on him and loving him. He needs that hole in his heart filled to feel happy.
10. He fake-laughs a lot, so, really, whenever he feels the need or feels it appropriate. For his actual laugh, when he finds things beneath him or less intelligent than him, he'll laugh a little mockingly, or when someone does something really ridiculous or unexpected, he'd laugh as well.
11. Hazel is a strict follower of the One True Church of the West (some form Christianity; we see a crucifix in his church more than once in Sunspot, and he wears a cross in the december short chapter in Zero Sum) and is also a Bishop of the same, but sometimes, he questions God and God's plan for him. He is very insecure, and though he'll vociferously stick by his religion and read the Bible or pray often, he doesn't really know what he's praying for, and doesn't really find anything to help him with his troubles in the Bible. He clings to religion like a life vest, and yet he can't figure out how to inflate it, so to speak. When he was a child, Filbert emphasized "the God inside" (Hazel's chest), presumably meaning his conscious or innate moral sense, but Hazel seems to be strongly lacking an innate moral sense, seeing his disregard for life and the fact that his desire to please is so strong that he will set aside any imposed set of morals to please whoever he's trying to prove his worth to.
12. None.
13. The need to be needed. Because he so desperately wants to be acknowledged or told he's worthy, he'll do anything but anything for anyone who shows interest in him. He needs so badly to be loved and wanted that he'll do anything to please the person who says they want him. He is gullible as all fuck, so if anyone butters him up enough, he'll do anything for them.
14. It's really very hard to say. Ukoku made the most lasting impression, but I'm not sure Hazel regards him as "the most important to him" even if it was his teachings that stuck and took root. I'd say Filbert, because Hazel loved Filbert and wanted to protect him so dearly, but Filbert is dead and this question is in present tense. Really, in all honestly, I believe the most important person in Hazel's life is Hazel. He looks out for himself and does what he can to get what he wants, fuck anyone else who wants something different.
15. If Hazel died, honestly, the only person who would miss him would be Gato, and Gato would probably die pretty soon after, if he didn't just commit suicide right then, because Gato is entirely dependent on Hazel and, really, I think, has come to love Hazel a great deal. But Gato aside, no one. Not one person would shed a tear for Hazel's passing. As for how he would die... trying to do something stupid for someone manipulating him, else for the cause, being the changed person he is post-volume-9.
I hope this is adequate~
Re: [2/2]
Date: 2009-02-08 03:56 am (UTC)It makes me laugh that he has no greatest strength...and it makes me feel bad for him that for so many of these questions you were like, "Well, he had one once, but now..." Like with Filbert and the pendant.
It's sad that no one would cry for him, too, 'cept Gato. Not that I'd cry for him. XD
He's a pretty interesting character, though, I'll admit. (Not that I'm surprised--Minekura can do no wrong, after all. But I still didn't think so at the very beginning of meeting him. XD;; )
Re: [2/2]
Date: 2009-02-08 04:09 am (UTC)Seriously, can you think of a strength? Because I can't. XD;;;;; And yeah... Hazel's life went to hell, pretty much... Poor guy.
I'd cry! I'd bawl my little eyes out. ;______; ... I probably will bawl my eyes out, but that's beside the point. I want to write some Gato/Hazel sometime or something... XD;;
Thank you. At least give him that much credit. XD;;; And Minekura WANTED you to hate him in the beginning, kthanx. That's going to be in my essay, the order of the way she does things with Hazel. It's ON PURPOSE.
... do you want me to write one up for Ukoku, too, for your reference?
Also, I'm loving this icon. XD;
Re: [2/2]
Date: 2009-02-08 04:19 am (UTC)Nope, I don't think he has one, either.
Awww. There, there. I think Gato/Hazel would be really interesting. I don't really get their relationship totally, but it seems like it would be interesting. XD;;;
I'm sure, I'm sure. Minekura is god, after all.
Yeah, do it! That would be really cool. :D
Me too. It is excellent. x ]
Re: [2/2]
Date: 2009-02-08 04:24 am (UTC)*sniffs* And yeah, I truly believe in it, not like, romantically, but like, Hazel demanding services lulz. And I think Gato really does care for Hazel... I don't quite get them either, but I know Hazel is really guilty about Gato and Gato really does love and want to protect Hazel more than anything...
She is. *worships her*
Okay, I'll do it in a bit, in another comment, because they come out so long anyway XD;
Yay XD;; It's Hakkai's rapeface. :OO I HOPE THEY GET TO HAZEL IN THE MUSICALS!!
Re: [2/2]
Date: 2009-02-08 04:31 am (UTC)I hope they do, too, actually! They better do the whole series!! It'd be so hardcore.
Re: [2/2]
Date: 2009-02-08 04:41 am (UTC)Yeah, that's what they're doing with TeniMyu, so!! I hope so too!! Hazel is super-fabulous, just right for musicals! AND THINK OF THE ICONS! XD;;
Re: [2/2]
Date: 2009-02-08 04:51 am (UTC)Yes, they've done that with other anime, too, so I hope it'll be the same! the icons will be so SPIFFY!
Re: [2/2]
Date: 2009-02-08 11:46 pm (UTC)I HOPE SO 8D HAZEL HAZEL HAZEL HAZEL HAZEL!
[1/1]
Date: 2009-02-08 11:41 pm (UTC)2. Nothing, I don't think. And anything, at the same time. He only does what suits him, so anything he might do if he felt like it, he wouldn't do it someone forced him. So, I guess, the answer to this question is anything and nothing.
3. I really, really have no idea what he dreams about literally. I'd guess nothing. But he'd say he dreams about sexy women or like food and bunnies or something. If he does dream, it's probably about Koumyou. In Saiyuki, it seems, dreams are a form of attachment (Hakkai dreams of Kanan early on, Hazel dreams of Filbert, etc), and the only attachment Ukoku has is Koumyou.
4. I don't know. Really, I don't think he has one. I think before Koumyou died, he didn't consciously know it, but it was losing Koumyou. Now that Koumyou is gone, though, I don't think he really has a fear. Ukoku is such that he doesn't really have doubts... in his mind, he will do what he will do, and there's not really a question about it...
5. Um... He doesn't really get attached to anything, either, he gets bored fast and doesn't really care to hang on to anything. I guess I'd say the Muten Sutra, because 1) It came to him through Koumyou, and 2) It's a source that allows him to do things that amuse him. Sort of like the remote control to the TV or something. XD;
6. Sitting on Koumyou's porch, talking to him about philosophical things
and later having hot sex someplace really blasphemous(though he probably looks back on fucking with Kami-sama and Hazel [in more ways than one lol] fondly, even if he isn't really attached.)7. I'd go with finding out about Koumyou's death
[2/2]
Date: 2009-02-08 11:41 pm (UTC)9. Always being entertained. Always being kept busy. Not being bored.
10. If he's amused by something, he'll laugh. Usually, he's amused by something because he considers himself above it, so I guess it's a condescending sort of thing. He laughs when events happen to other people and he can watch. The things he thinks are funny are often not what other people think are funny. He also has a various array of fake laughs, from the flirtatious-laugh-at-your-jokes-so-I-can-get-in-your-pants laugh to the I-didn't-get-what-I-want-and-I'm-pissed laugh.
11. None. He doesn't believe in anything besides himself.
12. Not caring about anything. He can throw anything away or act without caring the repercussions because he doesn't care about anyone but himself. He is also incredibly strong, both physically and using his Buddhist magical skillz. He is unbelievably smart, as well. This combination is rather deadly.
13. The one exception to his not caring is Koumyou, who he really was attached to... so I guess that attachment could come back to bite him in the butt (I'm including in this his obsession with Genjyou Sanzo, since that comes of his love for Koumyou.) Otherwise, his complete insanity may be a downside; pushing things too far can sometimes be a really bad call.
14. Koumyou~ But he's dead, and since the question is present tense, I guess I'll say Genjyou Sanzo, because Ukoku is now bent on making him suffer, since he, in Ukoku's mind, killed Koumyou.
15. I think, possibly, even post 9, Hazel might miss him a teensy bit if he died... but no one else, really. Frankly... I have no idea how he'd die. He's too powerful and too smart.
Hope this was up to par :D;
Re: [2/2]
Date: 2009-02-09 03:07 am (UTC)Heck, what do you need me to play Ukoku for? XD;;;
He really is a cool character, however. I like how the majority of these answers are either Koumyou or nothing. Ahahaha. Hopefully I can get a hang of him... Or else you really will just have to be both parts. XD
Re: [2/2]
Date: 2009-02-09 03:18 am (UTC)XD;;; What do you mean? Of course I need you! I was doing all this to help you out!!
Yeah :D; That's really all he ever cared about... lol. I managed to sneak Hazel in there once XD;;;;
