Pairing: Scar/Al
Rating: G
Warnings: BL, but only if you squint. I was trying to keep it as canon as possible.
Scar had one reason for entering laboratory 5, and that was to kill the Fullemtal Alchemist, Edward Elric. He had killed the police back at the military headquarters and the guards in front of the building; nothing could stand in his way.
And then he heard the words.
"Couldn't you please stop trying to kill Niisan?"
The words were soft and pleading, not forceful in any matter. They came from the steel boy, the empty suit of armour, the sin against Ishbala that Scar had half a mind to put out of its misery, and yet, they words halted him in his tracks.
No other being from Amestris had ever asked him for anything.
He had been ordered and threatened and shreiked at in horor, but no one out of Ishbal had ever used the word "please" to him.
But that didn't matter anymore. Damage had been done, he had alchemists to kill and revenge to exact. Nothing, not even this little boy trapped in a metal cage could stand in his way.
"I must find the Fullmetal Alchemist."
The boy didn't say anything, and Scar ran past, into the building, into the darkness. He became vaguely aware of the boy following, also determined to find his brother. It was a devotion Scar had once felt, ages ago...
But, as the clanking footsteps continued steadily behind him he couldn't help but think this metal boy, with all of his sins, might be more human than anyone else in Amestris.
