So, I'm sure everyone's heard by now, but man am I not stoked about the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. I have a lot of ~real people reasons (starting with the fact that Japan has had the Olympics more times than any other Asian country, period), but all those aside... I was really hoping that twenty-twenty was going to be stopped before it could really start. >__< I mean, I know seven years is a long time and Johnny probably won't be able to be the one making the decisions in Johnny's by then, but still. If twenty-twenty happens, I don't even know what will become of Johnny's. As of right now, I'm just hoping for a Julie takeover (rather than Iijima) because while neither of them are perfect, Julie seems to stand by the old values while Iijima is the one behind KisuMai, and... yeah. Not that I know much about the real politics of the factions, but I've always felt like the Fujishima side knew what was going on.

But either way, I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm looking forward to a lot of upcoming things, so I'll try to focus on those. Also I'll just hope that JUMP does the theme song for the new Kindaichi thing, and that Yamada doesn't do a new solo single, making him a flat-out liar and causing me to go back to hating him when I just started liking him again! :D;;;

Also, re: clothes, to the people who were interested, I started taking photos but I realized I have a few things that I forgot about and don't know if I want to get rid of them just yet |D;; So I'll post photos within the month! Sorry about the delay, and stay posted. ♥

The Olympics are such a strain on a lot of systems--with concerns over energy, whether or not to continue with nuclear, the cost of importing oil--it seems rather short sighted for them to have wanted the games in 2020 to begin with. But then, considering our government has been running off of CR's for the last 5 years I guess I can't say much about short sighted. :PP

It's going to be interesting to see what will happen when Johnny himself is no longer running things. He really has an eye for raw idol talent. But I really hope they keep the "core" of the agency the same and don't try to chase trends... change isn't bad and I think fans can accept change but if they start really chasing trends, I think a lot of old time fans will give up. Honestly, as much as I think he's creepy, I hope they put Tackey in charge of some division or other. He, more than anybody, understands the "Johnny's" brand. IMHO anyways.

Hm, I didn't even think of that. That's another good reason why they shouldn't be in Tokyo. >__< GDI.

On one hand, yes, but on the other hand, I think they're pushing off the inevitable. Johnny's clearly losing it little by little, and I don't want to see him mess up the agency with weird decisions like 2020. He seems to be forgetting that the core of Johnny's success is in the groups and group relations, what with all these solo artists suddenly, and I want to see a return to the old values. There's change and then there's change, and I don't think Johnny's should stray from what has always brought them success, which certainly isn't 40-member mega-groups or solo artists.

I agree that Tackey is really talented, but I think it's more in a director role than a company head role. I wouldn't trust him to make successful groups or choose who gets in in the auditions, only to choreograph and plan concerts for groups once they're already in existence.

That's the trend chasing, though, isn't it? 40 member mega-groups... I was thinking "change" more like the fact that boys grow up into men and images can't stay the same forever. Chasing trends is like... doing things because they are "hot" without thinking through the long term consequences.

But solo artists aren't trendy? I mean, look at Matchy, right? XD If they couldn't do solo work, we wouldn't have Toma and Nakayama. (And Yara!)

Really, you don't think Tackey has an eye for talented juniors? I could see him be quite good at putting together groups.

Yeah, I mean, I think change within the marketing for one group over the years, and changing their style of music to reflect the members or the time period, and changing the costumes to be more age appropriate is one thing, but changing the method that the agency has always used to achieve popularity is a completely different matter. Solo artists have never been the core of JE; back when Matchy was popular, JE had nowhere near the media success and sway that they have now because solo artists sold catchy music but they didn't inspire the hoards or loving fans that groups like SMAP and Arashi do. SMAP is considered Johnny's first real foot into the empire that he's created now. You'll note that the grand majority of solo artists came before that. Yara and Toma are in a different category in my opinion since they're not CD-debuted musical acts. They're talents managed by Johnny who are in theatre and movies, respectively. And as for Yuma... I think Yuma could be doing a lot better with a group, and I don't know why Johnny hasn't given him one. As it is, he's still given shop photos in the Junior section and hasn't technically had a Johnny's-style debut even though he's has a CD. He's had 3 fake debuts now, and honestly, I feel bad for him.

Let's be real, Butoukan could never have had the success that groups like Arashi and Kanjani8 have. Tackey is great at spotting people who will perform well on stage, but that's different than people who are suited to debut. I don't think he could put together the sort of group that would have the sort of success that major Johnny's groups have now. But... that's just my personal opinion. I don't really care for Johnny's butai, and while I know they're an important part of the Johnny's empire and tradition, it's only half of what makes Johnny's what it is. The "big names" don't do butai, and the "big names" are what I don't trust Tackey to put together.

I'm just glad that Johnny has said he wants to debut SOMEONE before 2020... But man I hope Twenty-Twenty doesn't happen >___<

But more relevantly to the near future... I really hope Jump gets to have a new single soon XD

Yeah, well. I mean. He has to debut a group in 2015, right? And 2019. That's just... not something that you can change! But yeah, I just. I don't even know.

Yes |D;;; Me too.

Seven years is a long time. XD I don't know how old you are, but it's almost one third of my life. A lot can change in 7 years-- that's almost 2 presidential terms in my home country, the US, as well as almost as many years as it takes to finish both high school and university. In terms of JE guys, by 2020, Chinen will be 27. Yabu will be 30. Ohno will be 40 by the end of the year. By 2020, two more FIVB volleyball world cups will have happened, in 2015 and 2019, and presumably two more volleyball units will have debuted. In fact, in 7 years in Johnny's (for example, from 2000 to 2007), five different groups (Tackey and Tsubasa, NEWS, Kanjani8, KAT-TUN, and Hey! Say! JUMP) can debut. So I really think that a lot will change before then. I can only hope things will change for the better in terms of Johnny's. XD

I haven't thought (past tense) of him as a liar, I will think (future tense) of him as a liar IF he puts out a new solo single. He was been quoted as saying that Mystery Virgin was his first and LAST single, so if he puts out another one, he will have lied.

hahaha oh man you really explained that 7 years to me a lot, huh. i do not plan of arguing anyway. =))

now i get why you said that about yamada. didn't know that he said Mystery Virgin was his first and last. :)

Sorry if that seemed like too much! XD I just hear a lot of people saying stuff like 2020 is going to happen tomorrow, and I think a lot can change before then. ^^

Yeah, I'm just worried. I like Yamada right now, so I don't want him to do something that would make him a liar and make me angry at him :x
