Title: What Actually Happened
Disclaimer: Konomi's entirely gay boys~
Rating: PG-13 for mentions of sex toys?
Warnings: BL, general silliness?
Author's note: This is based on various occasions where I'm under the impression Silver Pair are so getting married XD; It stemmed from this image (wow, note how they're drinking grape Ponta in champagne glasses...) where I made a joke about it being their engagement party or something, as well as Good Combination in Dream Live Third, where Shishido goes down on one knee and sings to Choutarou... XD;;; Anyway, basically, this was begging to be written.
They didn't actually get engaged in Shishido's senior year of high school.
Sure, that's how any of the Hyoutei Regulars will tell the story, and yeah, there was a ring and a big party and all that involved, and yeah, they did end up living together after that, but that's not the point. Really, honestly, truly, they didn't get engaged in high school, it's all just a big misunderstanding, a rumour that has absolutely no basis in fact. Either Shishido or Ohtori would explain, if they had ever bothered to set the facts straight, that that wasn't how it went at all, it was totally different, and things just happened to spiral into something else entirely.
The day of the great misunderstanding had started like any other day, really, except for the fact that it was Valentine's Day, and thus entirely hectic for most every Hyoutei Regular. But still, even on this day, routine was routine; at morning practice, Atobe, kind soul that he was, handed out large velveteen sacks to all the members of the club in which to carry around gifts received over the course of the day, and Mukahi challenged everyone as to who would get the most chocolate (he had been doing this every year since second year of middle school, and always seemed to be surprised when he lost to everyone but Kabaji.) The day panned out as it normally did; girls approached either giddy or shy, and, as was to be expected, some didn't approach at all, but left notes and packages in their lockers. By the time Ohtori and Shishido were heading to club, their bags were indeed full, and it was easy to make light conversation about what a pain Valentine's Day was, and how they were going to have to deal with so many upset girls on White Day when they forgot to make return gifts, and how funny it was going to be to see Mukahi comparing his number of chocolates to Oshitari's.
It wasn't until they got to the locker room that things became less than normal. They were early; Shishido had planned it that way, and after they had gotten changed, before going out onto the courts, he caught Ohtori by the shoulder, wearing a bit of a blush and an embarrassed expression. "I know it's a pain in the butt," he explained, referring to Valentine's Day gifts, though, looking back, he realizes that it wasn't really clear, "but I have something for you, too." And Ohtori had looked confused and then surprised and then happy as Shishido pressed a little box into his palm, catching his eyes for a second before looking away again with a deeper blush.
Ohtori had grinned and dutifully opened the box, and the look of awe that washed over his face when he did startled Shishido, because he stuttered and explained, "It's 'coz, you know, I'm graduating, and I won't see you as much, and I don't want you to like, forget me, or... ya know... something..." He might have been planning on saying more, but he didn't get the chance, because at that point, Ohtori grabbed him by the waist (rather forcefully, he might add) and kissed him, and when they broke apart it was because they needed to breathe and for no other reason. "I love you," Ohtori said, and Shishido grinned and took the box back from Ohtori's hands and withdrew the plain little platinum band and slid it onto Ohtori's left ring finger, and he was about to say something else when Ohtori kissed him again.
And that was when Mukahi appeared out of nowhere.
This was the point, really, when everything spiraled out of their control and things became what they weren't; Mukahi had only taken about half a minute to notice the two of them, the ring, put two and two together, come up with five, and set out once again to report this information to everyone. By the time Shishido and Ohtori made it out of the locker room, all the Regulars were waiting to ask them if it was true, if Shishido had really proposed, and to offer congratulations and things, and in the midst of it, Shishido and Ohtori somehow weren't able to explain that, no, that wasn't how it went at all, and before they knew it, the news had gone around the school and back, and Atobe was already planning a party for the occasion.
Well, at that point, there was no going back, so they had gone to the party and accepted various gifts from people (the high points of which being an asparagus cooker from Taki and various sex toys from Mukahi and Oshitari) and danced and had a fairly good time, and had been entirely too shocked for words when, near the end of the night, Atobe announced that he had purchased for them a small apartment in town. And despite the fact that it was all a huge misunderstanding... well, it was pretty nice, and Shishido and Ohtori weren't so sure they minded.
And so, it was true that they didn't actually get engaged in Shishido's senior year of high school; it all really was just a big misunderstanding, a rumour that has no basis in fact. Either Shishido or Ohtori would explain, if they had ever bothered to set the facts straight, that that wasn't how it went at all, it was totally different, and things just happened to spiral into something else entirely. But they never did bother to set things straight, so what actually happened doesn't matter so much, does it?

And after that...I lol'd. XDD Especially at the gifts. I can just imagine them being super-awkward when they opened the sex toys... XD
Poor Gakuto, though, always getting the fewest chocolates...besides Kabaji...
