I mean, I don't think you necessarily have to read this as "he planned a big thing and chose English words super specific to their relationship." Maybe he heard the ABC-Z cover on the radio, liked it, and sang along enough times that he learned the sounds. Or maybe his mom used to sing it to him when he was a baby. You say "I don't think he could do it cold, or even know to find it cold," but maybe it's been ingrained in him since he was a small child. Maybe he has no idea what words he's singing and just thinks it sounds romantic because foreign languages sound romantic. There are reasons it might have happened other than him planning it down to a T. And besides, a lot of really unbelievable stuff with no explanation happens in Bad Boys J, and I don't really think this was out of the vein of the drama. I thought it was a good idea, and I ran with it. No, I didn't put huge excessive amounts of thought into it, but on the other hand, I do always think very carefully about my plots and characters before I write.
Which brings me to a request: If you think something is out of character, I totally respect your opinion. But please respect mine and the fact that I put a lot of thought and planning into my fics and I don't just write hither-thither and hope the characters aren't out of character. If I write someone in some way, it means I think that they're that way, so while I know that not everyone is going to agree with me, in that case, I would take it as a courtesy if you didn't blatantly say so in a comment. I write fic for fun, not to be an artist or to try to make a statement in the public sphere, and as such, I would really appreciate (especially from my close friends) if you keep criticism beyond spelling and punctuation to a minimum, as constructive as you might think you're being.
Sorry that this comment got sort of long and bitchy, but I put a lot of effort and heart into what I write, and it sort of hurts when someone offhandedly tells me "ur doin it wrong."
On an upward closing note, thanks for the positive things in your comment, and I'm glad it gave you good feelings.
