Report from today's Sexy Zone new single presentation event

From News @ Asahi TV.

Today, July 15th, Sexy Zone's Sato Shori (17), Nakajima Kento (20), and Kikuchi Fuma(19) held a presentation event for their new single in Tokyo's Yoyogi National Gymnasium. In front of 10,000 fans, they performed their new song for the first time, and announced that that same song would not include Matsushima Sou (16) and Marius Yo (14) but would instead be comprised just of Sato, Nakajima, and Kikuchi. The fan's shocked voices, crying out "Ehhhh???" rose up in the venue. Nakajima commented, "We want to move forward showing the fans many forms," while Kikuchi asked the fans to understand, saying, "If we work hard just the three of us, and each become stronger before returning to 5、I think the possibilities for our group will instantly increase." From here on, centered on the three with Sato, there's the chance that they'll become a fluid group with members being switched in and out, and Nakajima expanded what might be expected, saying, "It's possible that next year, we'll put out solos and stuff, too." In May, two derivative groups incorporating Marius and Matsushima respectively were born, and all five will appear in the summer concert starting on July 23rd.

I'm going to refrain from making a comment right now, because I don't want to let my emotions get the best of me, but as you might guess, I'm pretty much livid. All I'm going to say is, we'll have to wait and see how things pan out.

And just as I thought things were looking up, too.

[EDIT] [livejournal.com profile] snow has kindly translated a tabloid article about this event here. Please read the translator's notes on the actual translation and keep in mind, though, that these tabloids basically make up facts to sell copies. I think the jury's still out on whether this will continue in the future, but I figured for completeness, I'd add this more "sensationalized" view. Please, though, remember that this article is a tabloid, and not a reliable news source.

Thank you for working on getting this out promptly even though it's so distressing *hugs* x_x

I really can't believe they're doing this, especially when things were going so much better. I really hope it's just a one-time thing, and that things will get back on track soon, but... yeah, right now I'm just really angry at Johnny's/whoever decided this.

But thank you for posting the translation ♥

I'm blaming this all on Ijima. It's a known fact that she dislikes them and never wanted them to debut, while Johnny did. She has been doing bad things with those 4 Kisumai members too. She takes her personal feelings too far into business matters. She's doing everything she can to stir things up since she can't take them out of the group.

The other mebers actually seemed sad about this whole situation.

Wow, I'm glad I found someone else who feels exactly the same way I do about Ijima. I feel like I hear a lot of waffling about her, and I'm just like. No. GTFO right now.

You can definitely tell Fuma's upset from his comment, but I don't know about Kento. In my opinion he's always been too good at doing exactly what the management wants.

At any rate, this is what I want to do to Ijima…

You're welcome. It's basically the least I can do… get the word out. Sorry the translation is rushed and sucks.

This is what I look like right now:

That's so disappointing :( Marius and Sou get fucked around so much. I feel so sorry for them and the other members too

Thanks for translating though xx

One word: Ijima.

Honestly if this is just a one time thing, I'll forgive and forget. But if they do any solos and shit, I don't know. I can't take that. That's not what Johnny's is.

No problem… It's the least I can do, honestly.

[identity profile] rorychan.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Kento has a problem with shutting down his emotions. I see it all the time when he's on camera. Poor guy. I'm sure he is feeling hurt too.

But it's so obvious that because she couldn't prevent MariSou from debuting, that she's gunna trhow this tantrum until the boys are old enough to stand up for themselves. I honestly can't wait for that day.

That gif is perection btw.

I feel exactly the same way. But you're welcome-- I'm glad to help.

[identity profile] yomimashou.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
This is for Iijima:

But yeah, I agree. I can't understand why Iijima doesn't understand that, when she manages fucking SMAP...

[identity profile] snow.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
afaik there was no official comment about them becoming a "fluid group;" whoever wrote that article is trying to start something. (i think. i hope??)

things HAVE been looking better lately so i am honestly confused about what the ultimate goal is with this single. i have no problem with the existence of sexy boyz/sexy show since it's a way for marisou to actually get screen time, which lbr they DON'T get with sz, and maybe i can convince myself that this is an opportunity for them to focus on gaining experience in the derivative units before the main group comes back together. maybe. after all, they were not involved in bad boys - didn't even appear on the cover - and nothing permanent happened after that single. so... maybe.

i am somewhat comforted by what fuma said but still very upset for marisou who do not deserve this kind of treatment from their management. i am struggling about whether or not to buy this single bc i want to support the other three but i don't know how else to show my sadness about this decision other than by not buying it.

[identity profile] faded-lace.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I can see that, but it frustrates me to watch him do it. I want to know he's upset. Fuma at debut was hard to handle, but Kento's coldness about it hurt me more, tbqh.

Yeah, it's completely ridiculous. At the very least, I want the older ones to stand up for them, but I guess the management can use excuses like being too young or living too far until they're out of school. It's just hard to bear and think about how much they're all hurting.

Ahaha thank you. I love it. It's everything I ever wanted XD

[identity profile] faded-lace.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
You really wanted to get that in, didn't you XD;

Who knows what the fuck goes through that crazy woman's brain. I just want her to be gone.

[identity profile] rorychan.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess, it's how Kento deals with his pain. I can't relly blame him for it. It's hard to watch, but if he can't express it without breaking down...I dunno if I'd want that either.

The fact that Sou tranferred to Tokyo for school and work means they are trying to fight back. Our babies are so strong!! And they will come out of this much stronger and better human beings!!! They just need to hold on!

[identity profile] faded-lace.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen it in every news report in different but similar wording (for example, here and here, and to a slightly lesser extent here) so it's possible that there was a press conference after the show, or something. "流動的" and "常にメンバーが入れ替わる" seem to be common buzzwords that worry me. But I hope that you're right. >__< It could just as well be the management trying to start something…

Yeah, I feel the same way, but at the end of the day, I don't like them being so easily and quickly mingled with Juniors. It's sort of a double-edged sword, in my opinion (sort of like KisuMai's Busaiku unit), because it breaks them away from the rest of the group in image and makes them seem more "kiddie" and less "sexy" or "adult-like." I know that Marius being so young and Sou living so far can be somewhat to blame in terms of schedule, and it might easier to put them with juniors, but in the long run, I'd like to see those units die out after this summer and Marius and Sou to be more integrated with the rest of the group. I totally agree with you that things have really and truly been looking better, though, so I'm frankly floored by this. The Sexy Second tour gave me such hopes. I guess I'll have to wait and see what the summer concert is like… did you go to Sexy Second/are you planning to go to the summer con?

I feel the same way about Bad Boys, too, but I just hate keeping the same cyclical thought pattern of "well nothing bad happened last time something awful happened for Marius and Sou…" It just sucks in the long run.

And yeah, I feel the same way here too. It's really a mess and as a fan of the group I'm pretty torn up, as well.

[identity profile] faded-lace.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I mean, of course I can't blame him for the way he is and the way he lives his life, but it's hard for me as a fan.

I just really hope they can keep fighting and not be broken by the pressure. They're so young and this is so much. But you're right, we just need to believe in them and hope they can hold on. That's all we can do… and I know they can do it!

[identity profile] rorychan.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Sou in particular is a really strong kid, and he helps Marius a lot. And he'll be 17 soon so he's gunna start having a say in some things soon. Let's just hope they can hold on long enough. Mari is the one who gets hurt easily. I'm just glad he's gunna be turning 15 in the spring. That will be a turning point I think.

Ahhhh, Sou is my baby! I know he can help Mari through this.

:(

[identity profile] faded-lace.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
:( indeed. Sorry for getting so emo on you.

[identity profile] faded-lace.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I know he is, but at the same time, I hate reading him say stuff about how he feels he doesn't add to the group at all, and stuff. He works so hard and I don't want him to feel that way because of stupid Ijima. Marius… poor kid. I mean, language barriers and culture shock aside, being 12~14 is a really hard time. I hope that things will start turning around for him soon, too. His language really has gotten so much better.

I hope so! He's been so good to Marius recently, so I'm hopeful.

[identity profile] beach-bum1303.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel like the other three would understand us not buying it. I won't be. I'm bothered by the fact that it's happening at all; I want them to stand up for the other two, to fight it. But maybe they can't. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes. But I DO believe that Fuma (can't speak for the others, I'm sure it's true for Kento but I'm a Fuma bias through and through) would.. How to phrase this? Would want [us] to not buy it in protest because there's nothing he can do. That's the vibe I've always gotten from him. I know he wants to be successful, but I also know that he cares so much about the people around him. I really need to believe right now that The Three aren't going along with this of their own free will, although I've griped and moaned in the past about them needing to fight it no matter what.

I love Fuma SO much, but I can't support this split anymore; if it's not 5 members I'm not having it. And I genuinely believe he would understand that and wouldn't hold it against me.

[identity profile] rorychan.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he's always been negative in personality, but he tries really hard and his actions speak so much louder than his words ever did. That's why I respect him so much. And I think that's why he keeps encouraging Mari, cuz he doesn't want to see that kid start to think that why too.

This is why I am glad that Sou is now living in Tokyo. It makes it much easier for him to fight. He probaby made this decision because of Ijima and her tantrums. One less thing for them to make excuses for.

[identity profile] faded-lace.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally agree with you about Fuma and about the split. He's an amazing guy who loves his friends, and you can tell from his comment that he's really not happy about this. I wish that there was more that he/they could do to fight this, but I assume, since it happened, that there wasn't anything. At any rate, what you're saying makes a lot of sense to me. If it's not 5 members, then it's not Sexy Zone.

[identity profile] snow.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
if someone had said that, i just feel like there would be a direct quote, like there was re: solo projects from kento. i feel like one media outlet said it & the others just picked it up and ran off with it. they can't "undebut" marisou. they can add jinguji/genki/whoever else if they really want to but they can't DROP people. there would be an implosion and i'm almost certain there would be something against that in their contracts. they're in unless they want to leave or they screw up like morimoto. sou is clearly fighting this terrible management & he'll be there for mari as well. i guess my concern isn't that they'll be kicked out but that this will be a terrible blow to their self-esteem that nobody needs at 14 & 16 and that idols need even less. it's just so unfair.

i saw sexy second but no, i'm not going to the summer con, and i'm more depressed about that now bc i won't get to see the situation for myself firsthand, you know?? i left sexy second thinking that, YES!! this group is finally cohesive... and now this. & if i feel this bad as a fan, how does the group feel? not just marisou, either - the other three must be feeling terrible. i'm so tired of reading about how "kento seems cold" - whatever; that's how he is when the crap hits the fan. it doesn't mean they're not upset about this just because it doesn't affect them.

it just sucks. i feel the same way about excusing it as, "oh well, nothing bad happened the last time they got left out" - bc what the heck, there shouldn't BE a "last time" at all!

[identity profile] faded-lace.livejournal.com 2014-07-15 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I agree-- it's amazing that he can be insecure and still push on and work so hard and be so stable for himself and Marius. I just don't want him to hurt or have a breakdown. It's a lot to bear at 16 or 17.

:OO Where did you read he's living in Tokyo? I'd seen the stuff about transferring schools, but not about his living situation. I've been hoping he'd be able to live in Tokyo, since that would help everything so much, but I didn't know it was a reality…!
